The GLE’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The I-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes GLE are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The GLE 350’s maximum EPA estimated driving range on a full tank of fuel is 607.5 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The I-Pace’s range is only 234 miles, after which the minimum recharge time is 1 hour and 25 minutes for only a 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a conventional charging station can take up to 12 hours and 54 minutes.

For better traction, the GLE has larger standard tires than the I-Pace (255/50R19 vs. 235/65R18). The GLE’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the I-Pace (F:275/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 255/40R22).

The GLE’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the I-Pace’s standard 65 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GLE has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the I-Pace.

The GLE 450 offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the I-Pace.

The GLE’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The I-Pace doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GLE is 1.8 inches wider in the front and 1.7 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the I-Pace.

For greater off-road capability the GLE has a greater minimum ground clearance than the I-Pace (7.9 vs. 7.8 inches), allowing the GLE to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the GLE has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the GLE detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The I-Pace doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GLE offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The I-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GLE also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes GLE offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The I-Pace doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The GLE offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
