Safety

Both the Range Rover Evoque and GLC Coupe have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Evoque has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The GLC Coupe’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Range Rover Evoque’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

To help make backing safer, the Range Rover Evoque’s optional cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the GLC Coupe have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

Warranty

The Range Rover Evoque’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the GLC Coupe’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Engine

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. produces 5 more horsepower (246 vs. 241) than the GLC 300 Coupe’s standard 2.0 turbo 4 cyl.

Fuel Economy and Range

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Range Rover Evoque’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the GLC Coupe:

Tires and Wheels

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the GLC Coupe; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover Evoque’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the GLC 300 Coupe’s (38.1 feet vs. 38.7 feet).

Chassis

The Range Rover Evoque is 1 foot, 2.2 inches shorter than the GLC Coupe, making the Range Rover Evoque easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque amounts to more than styling. The Range Rover Evoque has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .33 Cd. That is significantly lower than the GLC Coupe (.369) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Range Rover Evoque get better fuel mileage.

Cargo Capacity

The Range Rover Evoque has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GLC Coupe with its rear seat up (21.5 vs. 17.6 cubic feet). The Range Rover Evoque has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GLC Coupe with its rear seat folded (50.5 vs. 49.4 cubic feet).

Towing

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the GLC Coupe’s (3968 vs. 3500 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear wiper. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Evoque offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The GLC Coupe doesn’t offer headlight washers.
