The M2 has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The F-Type’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the M2’s wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer than on the F-Type (106 inches vs. 103.2 inches).

The design of the BMW M2 amounts to more than styling. The M2 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .35 Cd. That is lower than the F-Type (.35 to .36). A more efficient exterior helps the M2 go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the M2 get better fuel mileage.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the M2 Competition is quieter than the F-Type R-Dynamic Coupe (70 vs. 74 dB).

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the M2 has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The F-Type doesn’t offer cornering lights. The M2 also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

The M2 has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the F-Type.

With standard voice command, the M2 offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. TheF-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the BMW M2 offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The F-Type doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
