For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Lexus LX 570 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Toyota Land Cruiser doesn’t offer pretensioners for the middle seat belts.
Both the LX 570 and the Land Cruiser have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.
The LX 570 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Land Cruiser’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year and 14,000 miles sooner.
Lexus’ powertrain warranty covers the LX 570 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Toyota covers the Land Cruiser. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Land Cruiser ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.
The LX 570’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Land Cruiser’s (6 vs. 5 years).
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2018 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus 8th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 12 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is ranked 17th, below the industry average.
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2018 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in reliability, above the industry average. With 28 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is ranked 8th.
The LX 570 stops shorter than the Land Cruiser:

The LX 570’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Land Cruiser’s standard 60 series tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the LX 570 has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the Land Cruiser. The LX 570 offers optional 21-inch wheels.
The LX 570 has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Land Cruiser’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.
The LX 570 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The LX 570’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
The LX 570’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Land Cruiser’s (52.1% to 47.9%). This gives the LX 570 more stable handling and braking.
The LX 570 handles at .78 G’s, while the Land Cruiser pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
The LX 570 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1 seconds quicker than the Land Cruiser (27.9 seconds @ .66 average G’s vs. 28.9 seconds @ .58 average G’s).
The front step up height for the LX 570 is 3.5 inches lower than the Land Cruiser (18.8” vs. 22.3”).
A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the LX 570 easier. The LX 570’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.8 inches, while the Land Cruiser’s liftover is 31.6 inches.
Pressing a switch automatically lowers or raises the LX 570’s third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.
The LX 570 has a maintenance free battery for long life without checking the battery’s water level. The Land Cruiser doesn’t have a maintenance free battery, so the water level in the battery’s cells must be checked often to prevent damage.
J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Lexus service is better than Toyota. J.D. Power ranks Lexus third in service department satisfaction. With a 44% lower rating, Toyota is ranked 17th.
The LX 570 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
The LX 570 offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and other key instrumentation readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the LX 570 has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer cornering lights.
Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the LX 570’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Land Cruiser doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.
The Lexus LX 570 outsold the Toyota Land Cruiser by almost two to one during 2017.
