Safety

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the XE SV Project 8. But it costs extra on the Panamera.

Both the XE SV Project 8 and the Panamera have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The XE SV Project 8 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Panamera’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year and 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the XE SV Project 8 for 4 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Panamera (5/60,000 vs. 1/10,000).

Engine

The XE SV Project 8’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 262 more horsepower (592 vs. 330) and 185 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 331) than the Panamera’s standard 3.0 turbo V6. The XE SV Project 8’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 152 more horsepower (592 vs. 440) and 111 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 405) than the Panamera 4S’ standard 2.9 turbo V6. The XE SV Project 8’s 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 139 more horsepower (592 vs. 453) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 457) than the Panamera GTS’ standard 4.0 turbo V8.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the XE SV Project 8’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Panamera:

13.8 inches

Rear Rotors

15.6 inches

13 inches

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The XE SV Project 8 has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Panamera doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the XE SV Project 8 has larger rear tires than the Panamera (305/30R20 vs. 295/40R19).

The XE SV Project 8’s 265/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Panamera’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the XE SV Project 8 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Panamera.

The XE SV Project 8 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Panamera; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the XE SV Project 8’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the Panamera’s (37 feet vs. 39 feet). The XE SV Project 8’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Panamera Executive’s (37 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

Chassis

The XE SV Project 8 is 1 foot, 1.3 inches shorter than the Panamera, making the XE SV Project 8 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

The XE SV Project 8 has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Panamera can only carry 4.

Cargo Capacity

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the XE SV Project 8 easier. The XE SV Project 8’s trunk lift-over height is 25.5 inches, while the Panamera’s liftover is 29.7 inches.

With its sedan body style, valet key, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the XE SV Project 8 offers cargo security. The Panamera’s hatchback body style and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Ergonomics

If the windows are left open on the XE SV Project 8 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Panamera can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.
