Toyota’s powertrain warranty covers the 86 2 years and 24,000 miles longer than Lotus covers the Evora. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Evora ends after only 3 years or 36,000 miles.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the 86 for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Lotus doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Evora.

There are almost 32 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 86’s warranty.

The 86’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Lotus does not offer a locking feature on the Evora’s power windows.

The 86’s front power windows open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Evora’s power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them.

The 86 has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn. The Evora doesn’t offer automatic headlights.

The 86’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Evora’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The 86’s standard rear view mirror has an automatic dimming feature. This mirror can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on it, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Evora doesn’t offer the luxury of an automatic dimming rear view mirror.

The 86 GT/Hakone’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Evora doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The 86 GT/Hakone’s standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment. The Evora doesn’t offer automatic air conditioning.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the 86 has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Evora doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.
