For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Panamera are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar XF doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Panamera helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard and even aims one of the vehicle’s headlights in the direction of the person or object. The XF doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Panamera and the XF have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.

The Panamera E Hybrid’s standard fuel tank has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the XF (21.1 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Panamera’s standard fuel tank has 4.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the XF (23.7 vs. 19.5 gallons).

The Panamera offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The XF doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Panamera’s optional launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The XF doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the Panamera has larger standard tires than the XF (F:265/45R19 & R:295/40R19 vs. 245/45R18). The Panamera’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the XF (F:275/40R20 & R:315/35R20 vs. 255/35R20).

The Panamera’s standard 295/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XF’s standard 45 series tires. The Panamera’s optional 315/30R21 rear tires have a lower 30 series profile than the XF’s optional 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Panamera has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the XF. The Panamera’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the XF.

The Panamera offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The XF doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Panamera offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the XF.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Panamera is 2.4 inches wider in the front and 1.6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the XF.

The Panamera 4S handles at 1.01 G’s, while the XF Sedan AWD pulls only .81 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo handles at .99 G’s, while the XF S Sportbrake pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Panamera Turbo executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.9 seconds quicker than the XF Sedan AWD (23.9 seconds @ .86 average G’s vs. 27.8 seconds @ .6 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Panamera w/Rear Axle Steering’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the XF’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

The front grille of the Panamera uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The XF doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Panamera offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The XF doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Panamera’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The XF does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Panamera has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and fuel theft. The XF doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Panamera’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The XF doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Panamera offers optional massaging front and rear seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the XF.
