Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Titan XD has standard Rear Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Titan XD. But it costs extra on the Sierra Limited.

The Titan XD’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Titan XD (except S/SV) offers an optional Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Sierra Limited only offers a rear monitor.

To help make backing safer, the Titan XD’s cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

The Titan XD’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Titan XD and the Sierra Limited have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras and available daytime running lights.

The Nissan Titan XD weighs 991 to 1651 pounds more than the GMC Sierra Limited. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The Titan XD has Brake Limited Slip Differential, a true four-wheel-drive system, which uses a four wheel traction control system to redirect engine power to the axle and wheel that still has traction to keep the Titan XD moving if even only one wheel still has traction. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a true four-wheel drive system; it could get stuck while one or more wheels still have traction.

When two different drivers share the Titan XD (except S/SV), the optional memory system makes it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a memory system.

The Titan XD (except S/SV)’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Titan XD’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Sierra Limited’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

If the front windows are left open on the Titan XD the driver can close them at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Sierra Limited can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Intelligent Key optional on the Titan XD allows you to unlock the driver’s door and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The GMC Sierra Limited doesn’t offer an advanced key system.

The Titan XD’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Sierra Limited’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted. The Titan XD’s optional wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Titan XD detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

When the Titan XD with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Sierra Limited’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Titan XD’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer the luxury of automatic dimming mirrors.

Both the Titan XD and the Sierra Limited offer available heated front seats. The Titan XD also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Sierra Limited.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Titan XD (except S/SV/SL) keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Titan XD’s optional (except S/SV/SL) heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The Titan XD has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.

Both the Titan XD and the Sierra Limited offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the Titan XD offers optional rear air-conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer rear air-conditioning vents, only heat vents.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Titan XD SV/Pro-4X/SL/Platinum has a standard Intelligent Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Sierra Limited doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
