The Cooper Clubman offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). The Cooper Clubman’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 3 Series Sports Wagon’s standard 50 series tires. The Cooper Clubman’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the 3 Series Sports Wagon’s optional 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Cooper Clubman offers optional 19-inch wheels. The 3 Series Sports Wagon’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Cooper Clubman can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. Run-flat tires aren’t available on some tire packages on the 3 Series Sports Wagon.

The Cooper Clubman offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 3 Series Sports Wagon; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some models of the 3 Series Sports Wagon don’t even offer run-flats.

The Cooper Clubman is 1 foot, 2.3 inches shorter than the 3 Series Sports Wagon, making the Cooper Clubman easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Cooper Clubman uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The 3 Series Sports Wagon doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
