The E-Class Cabriolet’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.
The E-Class Cabriolet has standard front and rear seat side-impact airbags and head airbags, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn't offer rear-seat side-impact airbags, only ones for front seat occupants.
The E-Class Cabriolet has a standard Active Brake Assist, which uses forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.
The E-Class Cabriolet offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.
The E-Class Cabriolet offers an optional Surround View System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The GranTurismo Convertible only offers front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s blind spot warning system uses digital cameras monitored by computer to alert the driver to moving objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.
To help make backing safer, the E-Class Cabriolet’s optional cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.
The E-Class Cabriolet has standard Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.
Both the E-Class Cabriolet and the GranTurismo Convertible have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the GranTurismo Convertible’s (5/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).
There are over 3 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the E-Class Cabriolet’s warranty.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a six-speed automatic is available for the GranTurismo Convertible.
All-wheel drive, available in the E-Class Cabriolet, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all-wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is not available with all-wheel drive.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s optional 275/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GranTurismo Convertible’s 35 series tires.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the E-Class Cabriolet can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
The E-Class Cabriolet has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The E-Class Cabriolet’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
For better maneuverability, the E-Class Cabriolet’s turning circle is 2.9 feet tighter than the GranTurismo Convertible’s (37.5 feet vs. 40.4 feet).
The E-Class Cabriolet is 3.3 inches shorter than the GranTurismo Convertible, making the E-Class Cabriolet easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The E-Class Cabriolet has 1.9 inches more front shoulder room and .6 inches more rear headroom than the GranTurismo Convertible.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the E-Class Cabriolet’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.
The E-Class Cabriolet has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
Unlike the driver-only memory system in the GranTurismo Convertible, the E-Class Cabriolet has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.
The E-Class Cabriolet offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children in the rear seat from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower all of them with the lock engaged. Maserati does not offer a locking feature on the GranTurismo Convertible’s power windows.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The GranTurismo Convertible’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.
If the windows are left open on the E-Class Cabriolet the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the GranTurismo Convertible can’t use the remote to operate the windows.
Keyless-Go standard on the E-Class Cabriolet allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer an advanced key system.
Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the E-Class Cabriolet to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.
While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the E-Class Cabriolet detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.
To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the E-Class Cabriolet has standard extendable sun visors. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer extendable visors.
Optional air-conditioned seats in the E-Class Cabriolet keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in summer. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.
On extremely cold winter days, the E-Class Cabriolet’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the E-Class Cabriolet offers an optional Active Distance Assist Distronic, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s standard steering wheel mounted cruise control is close at hand. The GranTurismo Convertible’s standard cruise control is on an over-crowded turn signal stalk.
The E-Class Cabriolet’s optional Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The GranTurismo Convertible doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
The Mercedes E-Class comes in coupe, convertible, sedan and station wagon bodystyles; the Maserati GranTurismo isn’t available as a coupe, sedan or station wagon.
