The Mercedes AMG GT’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The 570S doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Mercedes AMG GT has standard Active Brake Assist, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The 570S doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The 570S doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s optional blind spot warning system uses digital cameras monitored by computer to alert the driver to moving objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. The 570S doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The 570S doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Mercedes AMG GT has standard Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 570S doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Mercedes AMG GT and the 570S have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

There are over 20 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are McLaren dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GT’s warranty.

For better traction, the Mercedes AMG GT has larger standard tires than the 570S (F:255/35R19 & R:295/30R19 vs. F:225/35R19 & R:285/35R20). The Mercedes AMG GT R Coupe’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 570S (F:275/35R19 & R:325/30R20 vs. F:225/35R19 & R:285/35R20).

The Mercedes AMG GT’s 295/30R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 570S’ standard 35 series tires.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (47% to 53%) than the 570S’ (42.1% to 57.9%). This gives the Mercedes AMG GT more stable handling and braking.

The Mercedes AMG GT R Coupe handles at 1.14 G’s, while the 570S Coupe pulls only 1.05 G’s of cornering force in a Road and Track skidpad test.

The Mercedes AMG GT R Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the 570GT (22.8 seconds @ .96 average G’s vs. 23.2 seconds @ .94 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Mercedes AMG GT’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the 570S’ (37.7 feet vs. 41 feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Mercedes AMG GT’s available trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The 570S doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 570S doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the 570S.

If the windows are left open on the Mercedes AMG GT the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 570S can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

In case of a sudden change of weather, the Mercedes AMG GT has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. The 570S doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The 570S’ cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Mercedes AMG GT detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 570S doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Mercedes AMG GT has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The 570S doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield, the Mercedes AMG GT offers optional extendable sun visors. The 570S doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s optional sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The 570S’ visors are fixed into the windshield header.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 570S’ power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Mercedes AMG GT has standard automatic dimming rear and side view mirrors which automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The 570S has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Mercedes AMG GT keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in summer. The 570S doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Mercedes AMG GT offers an optional Active Distance Assist Distronic, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The 570S doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Mercedes AMG GT has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The 570S doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.

The Mercedes AMG GT was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2018. The 570S hasn’t been picked since 2016.
