In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Quattroporte’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The G80 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The G80 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction and acceleration, the Quattroporte has larger standard rear tires than the G80 (275/40R19 vs. 245/45R18). The Quattroporte’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the G80 (285/35R20 vs. 275/35R19).

The Quattroporte’s standard 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the G80 3.8’s standard 45 series tires. The Quattroporte’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the G80’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The G80 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 6.3 inches longer than on the G80 (124.8 inches vs. 118.5 inches).

The front grille of the Quattroporte uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The G80 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The G80 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

If the windows are left open on the Quattroporte the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. The driver of the G80 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The G80 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Quattroporte’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The G80 only offers an air-conditioned driver’s seat.

The Quattroporte has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the G80.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The G80 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
