For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Levante are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X6 M doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

To help make backing safer, the Levante’s cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The X6 M doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

Both the Levante and the X6 M have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The front and rear suspension of the Levante uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the X6 M, which uses coil springs in front. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Levante’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The X6 M doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Levante’s wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer than on the X6 M (118.3 inches vs. 115.5 inches).

The Levante’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the X6 M’s (51.6% to 48.4%). This gives the Levante more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the Levante’s turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the X6 M’s (38.4 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Levante has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X6 M (9.7 vs. 8.1 inches), allowing the Levante to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Maserati Levante may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 550 pounds less than the BMW X6 M.

The front grille of the Levante uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The X6 M doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Levante has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The X6 M doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Levante’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The X6 M does not have an oil pressure gauge.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Levante has a standard rear wiper. The X6 M doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Levante has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the X6 M.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Levante offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The X6 M doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
