To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Velar. But it costs extra on the XC60.

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Velar P250 gets better city fuel mileage than the XC60 T5 AWD (21 city/27 hwy vs. 20 city/27 hwy).

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Velar’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Volvo only offers a regenerative brake system on the XC60 T8.

For better traction, the Range Rover Velar has larger standard tires than the XC60 (255/50R20 vs. 235/60R18).

The Range Rover Velar has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The XC60’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover Velar uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Range Rover Velar (except Base)’s optional Entry and Exit Mode raises the steering wheel when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Range Rover Velar’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The XC60’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Velar to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The XC60 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
