Both the Range Rover Velar and RX Series have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Velar has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The RX Series’ child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Velar. But it costs extra on the RX Series.

Both the Range Rover Velar and the RX Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Velar’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Lexus only offers a regenerative brake system on the RX Series Hybrid.

Regardless of its engine, the Range Rover Velar’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) Lexus only offers an automatic engine start/stop system on the RX Series Hybrid.

The Range Rover Velar has 4.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the RX Series Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (21.6 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Range Rover Velar has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the RX Series’ standard fuel tank (21.6 vs. 19.2 gallons).

For better traction, the Range Rover Velar has larger standard tires than the RX Series (255/50R20 vs. 235/65R18). The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the RX Series (265/45R21 vs. 235/65R18).

The Range Rover Velar’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RX Series’ standard 65 series tires. The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the RX Series’ optional 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Velar offers optional 21-inch wheels. The RX Series’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Range Rover Velar offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the RX Series, it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Range Rover Velar P380 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Range Rover Velar’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The RX Series doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Velar has a greater minimum ground clearance than the RX Series (8.4 vs. 8.2 inches), allowing the Range Rover Velar to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Velar P380’s minimum ground clearance is 1.7 inches higher than on the RX Series (9.9 vs. 8.2 inches).
