Both the Range Rover Velar and the A6 Allroad have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Range Rover Velar’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Range Rover Velar has 2.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the A6 Allroad (21.6 vs. 19.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the Range Rover Velar has larger standard tires than the A6 Allroad (255/50R20 vs. 245/45R20). The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the A6 Allroad (265/45R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The Range Rover Velar’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the A6 Allroad’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Velar offers optional 21-inch wheels. The A6 Allroad’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Range Rover Velar offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the A6 Allroad; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

The Range Rover Velar P380 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Range Rover Velar’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Velar is 1.9 inches wider in the rear than the track on the A6 Allroad.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Velar has a 2.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the A6 Allroad Premium Plus (8.4 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the Range Rover Velar to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Velar P380’s minimum ground clearance is 2.6 inches higher than on the A6 Allroad Prestige (9.9 vs. 7.3 inches).

The Land Rover Range Rover Velar may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 450 pounds less than the Audi A6 Allroad.

The Range Rover Velar is 6 inches shorter than the A6 Allroad, making the Range Rover Velar easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the A6 Allroad, the Range Rover Velar HSE has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Velar to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Velar has a standard rear speed-sensitive intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the A6 Allroad only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.
