Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Range Rover Sport. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the e-tron Sportback.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the e-tron Sportback have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 116 more horsepower (518 vs. 402) than the e-tron Sportback’s electric motors. The Range Rover Sport SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8 produces 173 more horsepower (575 vs. 402) and 26 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 490) than the e-tron Sportback’s electric motors.

The Range Rover Sport Td6’s maximum EPA estimated driving range on a full tank of fuel and a full charge is 635.6 miles, after which it can be refueled at any diesel pump in minutes. The e-tron Sportback’s range is only 204 miles, after which the minimum recharge time is 30 minutes for only an 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a conventional charging station can take up to 9 hours.

For better traction, the Range Rover Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the e-tron Sportback (275/40R22 vs. 265/45R21).

The Range Rover Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the e-tron Sportback’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels. The e-tron Sportback’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Range Rover Sport has a standard full size spare (not available on 7-Passenger/P400e) so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the e-tron Sportback; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Range Rover Sport V8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Sport is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 66.4 inches wider in the rear than on the e-tron Sportback.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Range Rover Sport’s middle row seats recline. The e-tron Sportback’s rear seats don’t recline.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the e-tron Sportback only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Optional air conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The e-tron Sportback doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
