For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer pretensioners for the middle seat belts.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the Range Rover Sport and Stelvio Quadrifoglio have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Range Rover Sport has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional Surround Camera System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Range Rover Sport has standard InControl, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, all-wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Sport P400e can drive on battery power alone for up to 31 miles. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio must run its internal combustion engine to move.

Regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Sport’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Range Rover Sport Diesel’s standard fuel tank has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (22.7 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Range Rover Sport’s standard fuel tank has 10.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (27.6 vs. 16.9 gallons).

For better traction, the Range Rover Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (275/40R22 vs. 255/45R20).

The Range Rover Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 45 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Range Rover Sport V8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover Sport uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover Sport has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Range Rover Sport’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Range Rover Sport’s wheelbase is 4.1 inches longer than on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (115.1 inches vs. 111 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Sport is 5.4 inches wider in the front and 3.1 inches wider in the rear than on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

The Range Rover Sport’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (48.4% to 51.6%) than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s (52.9% to 47.1%). This gives the Range Rover Sport more stable handling and braking.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Sport SVR has a 2.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (10.8 vs. 7.9 inches), allowing the Range Rover Sport to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Sport’s minimum ground clearance is 3 inches higher than on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio (10.9 vs. 7.9 inches).

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the Range Rover Sport has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the Range Rover Sport the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Stelvio Quadrifoglio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

When the Range Rover Sport is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
