Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The K900 has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The XJ doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the K900. But it costs extra on the XJ.

Both the K900 and the XJ have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Kia K900 weighs 506 to 771 pounds more than the Jaguar XJ. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the K900 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the XJ. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the XJ ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

There are almost 5 times as many Kia dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the K900’s warranty.

The design of the Kia K900 amounts to more than styling. The K900 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .27 Cd. That is lower than the XJ (.29) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the K900 get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the K900 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The XJ doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
