The Grand Cherokee SRT has standard Uconnect Access, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Levante doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Grand Cherokee SRT and the Levante have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT weighs 411 to 545 pounds more than the Maserati Levante. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Grand Cherokee SRT 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Maserati covers the Levante. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Levante ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The Grand Cherokee SRT’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the Levante’s (5/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are over 20 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Grand Cherokee SRT’s warranty.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT’s engine uses a cast iron block for durability, while the Levante’s engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Grand Cherokee SRT’s reliability 29 points higher than the Levante.

The Grand Cherokee SRT’s 6.4 V8 produces 51 more horsepower (475 vs. 424) and 42 lbs.-ft. more torque (470 vs. 428) than the Levante S’ standard 3.0 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Grand Cherokee SRT’s fuel efficiency. The Levante doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Grand Cherokee SRT has 3.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Levante (24.6 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Grand Cherokee SRT has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Levante doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction, the Grand Cherokee SRT has larger tires than the Levante (295/45R20 vs. 265/50R19). The Grand Cherokee SRT’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Levante (295/45R20 vs. 265/50R19).

The Grand Cherokee SRT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Levante’s standard 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Grand Cherokee SRT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Levante.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Grand Cherokee SRT can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Levante doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The Grand Cherokee SRT offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Levante; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The Grand Cherokee SRT has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and fuel theft. The Levante doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

The Grand Cherokee SRT has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Levante doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
