The F-Type’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q60 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the F-Type and the Q60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, front parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.


The F-Type comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Q60’s 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the F-Type for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Infiniti doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Q60.


The battery on the F-Type is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the F-Type’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The Q60’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the F-Type P340 RWD gets better fuel mileage than the Q60 Red Sport 400 RWD (20 city/28 hwy vs. 20 city/27 hwy).

Regardless of its engine, the F-Type’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) Infiniti only offers an automatic engine start/stop system on the Q60 2.0t.


An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar F-Type, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Q60.

The F-Type’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Q60 doesn’t offer launch control.

The F-Type offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Q60 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the F-Type SVR’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Q60 (F:265/35R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:255/35R20 & R:275/30R20).

The F-Type offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Q60; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some models of the Q60 don’t even offer run-flats.

Suspension and Handling

The F-Type’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Q60 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the F-Type is 1.4 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Q60.

The F-Type R Coupe handles at 1.00 G’s, while the Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD pulls only .88 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The F-Type SVR Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the Q60 Red Sport 400 (24 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 25.5 seconds @ .76 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the F-Type’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the Q60’s (35 feet vs. 36.7 feet). The F-Type AWD’s turning circle is 1.1 feet tighter than the Q60 AWD’s (37 feet vs. 38.1 feet).


The Jaguar F-Type may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 400 pounds less than the Infiniti Q60.

The F-Type is 8.2 inches shorter than the Q60, making the F-Type easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

The F-Type Coupe has a much larger trunk than the Q60 (14.4 vs. 8.7 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the F-Type Coupe offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button. The Q60 doesn’t offer a power trunk.


Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the Q60 (except Pure), the F-Type has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position (with optional power wheel adjuster) and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The F-Type’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Q60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The F-Type’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The Q60’s parking brake has to released manually.

The F-Type’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Q60’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The F-Type has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Q60 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the F-Type keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Q60 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The F-Type R-Dynamic/R/SVR’s optional Park Assist can parallel park by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Q60 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The Jaguar F-Type comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Infiniti Q60 isn’t available as a convertible.


The F-Type was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2014. The Q60 has never been an “All Star.”
