The Q60 Red Sport 400’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Q60 (except Pure) offers optional Back-up Collision Intervention that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The Q60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 4 Series Coupe’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the Q60 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than BMW covers the 4 Series Coupe. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the 4 Series Coupe ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2019 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 19th in initial quality. With 1 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is ranked 20th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ December 2018 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 2 places higher in reliability than BMW.

For better traction, the Q60 has larger standard tires than the 4 Series Coupe (255/40R19 vs. 225/45R18). The Q60 Red Sport 400’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 4 Series Coupe (F:255/35R20 & R:275/30R20 vs. F:225/40R19 & R:255/35R19).

The Q60’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 4 Series Coupe’s standard 45 series tires. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s 255/35R20 front and 275/30R20 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the 440i Coupe’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

The Q60 (except Pure) offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Q60’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. BMW does not offer a locking feature on the 4 Series Coupe’s standard power windows.

To shield the driver’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side window, the Q60 has a standard extendable sun visor. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer extendable visors.
