The QX60 was last qualified as a “Top Pick” in 2017.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Pacifica has a standard 730-amp battery. The QX60’s 550-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

On the EPA test cycle the Pacifica Hybrid running on electricity gets better fuel mileage than the QX60 FWD (87 city/76 hwy MPGe vs. 20 city/27 hwy).

On the EPA test cycle the Pacifica Hybrid running its gasoline engine gets better fuel mileage than the QX60 FWD (29 city/30 hwy vs. 20 city/27 hwy).

The Pacifica Hybrid can drive on battery power alone for up to 32 miles. The QX60 must run its internal combustion engine to move.

Regenerative brakes improve the Pacifica Hybrid’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX60 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Pacifica’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The QX60 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler Pacifica uses regular unleaded gasoline. The QX60 requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The Pacifica has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The QX60 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction, the Pacifica’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX60 (245/50R20 vs. 235/65R18).

The Pacifica’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX60 Luxe’s optional 55 series tires.

The Pacifica has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The QX60’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Pacifica’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The QX60 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Pacifica’s wheelbase is 7.4 inches longer than on the QX60 (121.6 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Pacifica is 2.5 inches wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than the track on the QX60.

The front grille of the Pacifica uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX60 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Pacifica uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The QX60 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Pacifica easier. The Pacifica’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 24.3 inches, while the QX60’s liftover is 30.6 inches.

The Pacifica’s cargo area is larger than the QX60’s in almost every dimension:

The Pacifica has standard Stow ‘n Go™ second and third row seats (except second row on Hybrid), which fold flat into the floor. This completely clears a very large cargo area quickly. The QX60 only has a third row seat which folds into the floor. The QX60’s second row seat doesn’t fold into the floor and eats up cargo room.

The Pacifica’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The QX60 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The Pacifica’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The QX60’s parking brake has to released manually.

The power windows standard on both the Pacifica and the QX60 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Pacifica is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The QX60 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Pacifica’s available headlights were rated “Acceptable” by the IIHS, while the QX60’s headlights are rated “Poor.”

The Pacifica (except Hybrid Touring)’s optional ParkSense Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, steering and operating the brakes. The QX60 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Pacifica second among minivans in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The QX60 isn’t in the top three.

The Pacifica was chosen as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Five/10Best Trucks” for 3 of the last 3 years. The QX60 has never been a Car and Driver “Top Five/10Best Truck” pick.

The Chrysler Pacifica outsold the Infiniti QX60 by over two to one during 2018.
