There are over 8 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are Volvo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 300’s warranty.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the 300 V8’s fuel efficiency. The S90 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler 300 uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended with the 5.7 V8 engine for maximum performance). The S90 requires premium, which can cost 5 to 40 cents more per gallon.

The 300 has 5.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the S90 T8 Plug-In Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 13.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The 300 has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the S90 T6’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 15.9 gallons).

The 300 has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The S90’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front and rear suspension of the 300 uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the S90, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For better maneuverability, the 300’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the S90 18” wheels’ (37.4 feet vs. 38.7 feet). The 300’s turning circle is 2.6 feet tighter than the S90 19” wheels’ (37.4 feet vs. 40 feet).

The engine in the 300 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the S90. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the 300 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Volvo doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the S90.
