Both the Escalade and LX 570 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Escalade has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The LX 570’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Escalade are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Escalade has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The LX 570 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Escalade Premium Luxury/Platinum has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The LX 570 doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the Escalade and the LX 570 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems and blind spot warning systems.


There are almost 4 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Escalade’s warranty.


J.D. Power and Associates rated the Escalade first among large premium suvs in their 2019 Initial Quality Study. The LX 570 isn’t in the top three in its category.


The Escalade’s 6.2 V8 produces 37 more horsepower (420 vs. 383) and 57 lbs.-ft. more torque (460 vs. 403) than the LX 570’s 5.7 DOHC V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Escalade 4WD gets better fuel mileage than the LX 570 (14 city/21 hwy vs. 13 city/18 hwy).

An engine control system that can shut down half of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Escalade’s fuel efficiency. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Escalade has 1.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the LX 570 (26 vs. 24.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Escalade has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.


A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac Escalade, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the LX 570.

Tires and Wheels

The Escalade’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LX 570’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Escalade offers optional 22-inch wheels. The LX 570’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Cadillac Escalade’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Lexus LX 570 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Escalade has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The LX 570 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Escalade’s wheelbase is 3.8 inches longer than on the LX 570 (116 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Escalade is 3.8 inches wider in the front and 3.9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the LX 570.

The Escalade 4WD handles at .77 G’s, while the LX 570 pulls only .73 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Escalade 4WD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the LX 570 (27.4 seconds @ .68 average G’s vs. 28.3 seconds @ .59 average G’s).


The Cadillac Escalade may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 150 to 200 pounds less than the Lexus LX 570.

The front grille of the Escalade uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The LX 570 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Escalade uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The LX 570 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Cargo Capacity

The Escalade’s cargo area provides more volume than the LX 570.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Escalade’s optional second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The LX 570 doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The Escalade’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The LX 570’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Escalade’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its tailgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Payload and Towing

The Escalade’s minimum standard towing capacity is much higher than the LX 570’s (8100 vs. 7000 pounds).

The Escalade has a higher standard payload capacity than the LX 570 (1420 vs. 1280 lbs.).

The Escalade has a higher maximum payload capacity than the LX 570 (1460 vs. 1280 lbs.).


The power windows standard on both the Escalade and the LX 570 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Escalade is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The LX 570 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Escalade’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The LX 570’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The Escalade has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the LX 570.

The Escalade’s Automatic Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The LX 570 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Model Availability

The Escalade is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The LX 570 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Economic Advantages

Insurance will cost less for the Escalade owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Escalade will cost $3140 to $5265 less than the LX 570 over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Cadillac Escalade will be $2567 to $6455 less than for the Lexus LX 570.


Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its July 2015 issue and they ranked the Cadillac Escalade 4WD first. They ranked the Lexus LX 570 third.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Escalade third among large premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The LX 570 isn’t in the top three in its category.

The Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV outsold the Lexus LX 570 by almost 8 to one during 2018.
