The X6 M’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Urus doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.
The X6 M has standard PostCrash iBrake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Urus doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.
Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The X6 M offers optional Active Park Distance Control that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Urus doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.
The X6 M’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Urus doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.
The X6 M has standard BMW Assist, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Urus doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.
Both the X6 M and the Urus have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras and available night vision systems.
The BMW X6 M weighs 531 pounds more than the Lamborghini Urus. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the X6 M for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Lamborghini doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Urus.
There are almost 10 times as many BMW dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the X6 M’s warranty.
On the EPA test cycle the X6 M with its standard engine gets better fuel mileage than the Urus (13 city/18 hwy vs. 12 city/17 hwy).
Regenerative brakes improve the X6 M’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Urus doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
In heavy traffic or at stoplights the X6 M’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The Urus doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.
The X6 M has 2.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the Urus’ standard fuel tank (21.9 vs. 19.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
For better traction, the X6 M has larger front tires than the Urus (F:295/35R21 & R:315/35R21 vs. F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21). The X6 M’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Urus (295/35R21 vs. 285/35R23).
The X6 M’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Urus’ standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.
The X6 M is 6.3 inches shorter than the Urus, making the X6 M easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The front grille of the X6 M uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Urus doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
The X6 M has 1.1 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom and 1.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Urus.
The X6 M has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Urus with its rear seat up (27.4 vs. 21.8 cubic feet). The X6 M has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Urus with its rear seat folded (59.6 vs. 56.4 cubic feet).
The X6 M offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Urus doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
The X6 M’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Urus’
Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the X6 M to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Urus doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
The X6 M has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Urus.
