The i3 has standard Park Distance Control to help warn the driver about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or in front of their vehicle. The Fusion Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a front parking aid.

The i3 comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Fusion Plug-In Hybrid’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year and 14,000 miles sooner.

The i3’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the Fusion Plug-In Hybrid’s (12 vs. 5 years).

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the i3 has a standard rear wiper. The Fusion Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The i3’s headlights were rated “Acceptable” by the IIHS, while the Fusion Plug-In Hybrid’s headlights are rated “Poor.”

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the i3 has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Fusion Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The i3’s optional Parking Assistant can parallel park by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Fusion Plug-In Hybrid doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
