For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Bentley Bentayga are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X7 doesn’t offer height-adjustable front seat belts.

Both the Bentayga and X7 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Bentayga has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X7’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Bentayga helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then projects the image on the windshield, near the driver’s line of sight. The X7 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Bentayga and the X7 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Bentayga offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. BMW doesn’t offer an active suspension on the X7.

The Bentayga handles at .81 G’s, while the X7 xDrive50i pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Bentayga SPEED’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the X7’s (39 feet vs. 42.8 feet). The Bentayga’s turning circle is 2.2 feet tighter than the X7’s (40.6 feet vs. 42.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Bentayga has a greater minimum ground clearance than the X7 (9.7 vs. 8.7 inches), allowing the Bentayga to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Bentayga’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X7’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

Optional air-conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Bentayga’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The X7 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.
