The R8 has standard Audi Connect CARE, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Aventador doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the R8 and the Aventador have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

There are over 9 times as many Audi dealers as there are Lamborghini dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the R8’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the R8 has a standard 210-amp alternator. The Aventador’s 190-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

On the EPA test cycle the R8 V10 Auto gets better fuel mileage than the Aventador S Auto (13 city/20 hwy vs. 9 city/15 hwy).

The R8 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Aventador doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The R8 has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The Aventador doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The R8 is 1 foot, 2.5 inches shorter than the Aventador, making the R8 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The R8 is 1 foot, 8.2 inches shorter than the Aventador SVJ.

A Service Indicator is standard on the R8 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lamborghini doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Aventador.

When different drivers share the R8, the memory system makes it convenient. Each keyless remote activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position and climate settings. The Aventador doesn’t offer a memory system.

The R8’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Aventador’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the R8 detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Aventador doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

When the R8 is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Aventador’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The R8 has standard automatic dimming rear and side view mirrors which automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Aventador has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The R8’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Aventador doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
