Both the Stelvio and the NX Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, front parking sensors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The engine in the Stelvio has a single overhead cam for simplicity. The engines in the NX Series have dual overhead cams, which add to the number of moving parts and the complexity of the cylinder heads.

The battery on the Stelvio is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Stelvio’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The NX Series’ battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The Stelvio’s optional tires have a lower 45 series profile than the NX Series F Sport’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Stelvio has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the NX Series. The Stelvio’s optional 20-inch wheels are larger than the 18-inch wheels optional on the NX Series.

The design of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio amounts to more than styling. The Stelvio has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is lower than the NX Series (.34) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Stelvio get better fuel mileage.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the Stelvio AWD is quieter than the NX 300 F Sport AWD (72 vs. 74 dB).

The Stelvio’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the NX Series.

The Stelvio’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The NX Series’ power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Stelvio’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The NX Series’ standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Stelvio to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The NX Series doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Stelvio offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The NX Series doesn’t offer headlight washers.

Both the Stelvio and the NX Series offer optional heated front seats. The Stelvio also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the NX Series.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The NX Series doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Stelvio offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The NX Series doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
