The S-Class Coupe’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wraith doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.
The S-Class Coupe has standard Active Brake Assist, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Wraith doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.
The S-Class Coupe offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Wraith doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
The S-Class Coupe’s blind spot warning system uses digital cameras monitored by computer to alert the driver to moving objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The Wraith doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.
To help make backing safer, the S-Class Coupe’s cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Wraith doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.
The S-Class Coupe’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Wraith doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.
Both the S-Class Coupe and the Wraith have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available night vision systems and around view monitors.
The S-Class Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Wraith’s (5 vs. 4 years).
There are almost 11 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Rolls-Royce dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the S-Class Coupe’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the AMG S 65 Coupe RWD V12 gets better fuel mileage than the Wraith with its standard turbo V12 (13 city/21 hwy vs. 12 city/18 hwy).
An engine control system that can shut down half of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the S-Class Coupe 560/63’s fuel efficiency. The Wraith doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.
In heavy traffic or at stoplights the S-Class Coupe’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The Wraith doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.
The S-Class Coupe S 65’s standard fuel tank has 2.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Wraith (24.6 vs. 21.9 gallons).
A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes S-Class Coupe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Wraith.
All-wheel drive, available in the S-Class Coupe, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all-wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Rolls-Royce Wraith is not available with all-wheel drive.
The S-Class Coupe 63/65’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Wraith doesn’t offer launch control.

The S-Class Coupe AMG offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Wraith doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
The S-Class Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Wraith doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
For better maneuverability, the S 560 Coupe’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Wraith’s (38 feet vs. 41.7 feet). The AMG S 63/65’s turning circle is 2.7 feet tighter than the Wraith’s (39 feet vs. 41.7 feet).
The Mercedes S-Class Coupe may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 700 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Wraith.
The S-Class Coupe is 9.6 inches shorter than the Wraith, making the S-Class Coupe easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
For excellent aerodynamics, the S-Class Coupe has standard flush composite headlights. The Wraith has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.
The S-Class Coupe has .6 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front legroom, 2.7 inches more rear headroom and 2.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the Wraith.
To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the S-Class Coupe’s trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Wraith doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.
The S-Class Coupe has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Wraith doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the S-Class Coupe to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Wraith doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its standard heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.
A power rear sunshade is standard in the S-Class Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Wraith doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.
Standard smartphone integration for the S-Class Coupe allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations, finding fuel prices at nearby service stations, searching the internet and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Wraith doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
The S-Class Coupe has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Wraith doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
The S-Class Coupe’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Wraith doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
The Mercedes S-Class comes in coupe, convertible and sedan bodystyles; the Rolls-Royce Wraith isn’t available as a convertible or sedan.
