The Quattroporte S offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The GS F doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Quattroporte offers an optional Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The GS F only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Quattroporte and the GS F have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available crash mitigating brakes and lane departure warning systems.

The battery on the Quattroporte is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Quattroporte’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The GS F’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The Quattroporte S’ standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 17 lbs.-ft. more torque (406 vs. 389) than the GS F’s 5.0 DOHC V8. The Quattroporte GTS’ standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 56 more horsepower (523 vs. 467) and 135 lbs.-ft. more torque (524 vs. 389) than the GS F’s 5.0 DOHC V8.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Quattroporte’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The GS F doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Quattroporte has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the GS F (21.1 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The GS F doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte’s optional 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GS F’s 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte offers optional 21-inch wheels. The GS F’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The GS F doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 12.6 inches longer than on the GS F (124.8 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Quattroporte is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 3.4 inches wider in the rear than on the GS F.

The Quattroporte’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the GS F’s (53% to 47%). This gives the Quattroporte more stable handling and braking.

The design of the Maserati Quattroporte amounts to more than styling. The Quattroporte has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .31 Cd. That is lower than the GS F (.33) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Quattroporte get better fuel mileage.

The front grille of the Quattroporte uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The GS F doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Quattroporte has 23.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the GS F (114 vs. 90.8).

The Quattroporte has .6 inches more front headroom, 10.4 inches more front hip room, 7.1 inches more front shoulder room and 3.6 inches more rear hip room than the GS F.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Quattroporte’s available rear seats recline. The GS F’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Quattroporte has a much larger trunk than the GS F (18.7 vs. 14 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Quattroporte’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GS F doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

The Quattroporte has a maintenance free battery for long life without checking the battery’s water level. The GS F doesn’t have a maintenance free battery, so the water level in the battery’s cells must be checked often to prevent damage.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Quattroporte to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lexus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the GS F.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge – which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The GS F does not have an oil pressure gauge.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GS F doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Both the Quattroporte and the GS F have standard heated front seats. The Quattroporte also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the GS F.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Quattroporte’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The GS F doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

On extremely cold winter days, the Quattroporte’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The GS F doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The GS F doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
