For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Infiniti Q70 doesn’t offer pretensioners for the rear seat belts.

Both the Quattroporte and the Q70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The battery on the Quattroporte is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Quattroporte’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The Q70’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

The Quattroporte S’ 3.0 turbo V6 produces 4 more horsepower (424 vs. 420) than the Q70 5.6 LUXE’s standard 5.6 DOHC V8. The Quattroporte GTS’ standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 103 more horsepower (523 vs. 420) and 107 lbs.-ft. more torque (524 vs. 417) than the Q70 5.6 LUXE’s standard 5.6 DOHC V8.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Quattroporte’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The Q70 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Quattroporte has 1.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the Q70 (21.1 vs. 20 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Q70 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte’s standard 245/45R19 front and 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q70’s standard 50 series tires. The Quattroporte’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Q70’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Q70. The Quattroporte’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Q70.

The Quattroporte has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Q70’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Quattroporte has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The Q70’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Q70 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 10.6 inches longer than on the Q70 (124.8 inches vs. 114.2 inches). The Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 4.7 inches longer than on the Q70L (124.8 inches vs. 120.1 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Quattroporte is 2.3 inches wider in the front and 3.1 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Q70.

The Quattroporte’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Q70’s (53.8% to 46.2%). This gives the Quattroporte more stable handling and braking.

The Quattroporte has 10.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Q70 (114 vs. 103.6).

The Quattroporte has 10.5 inches more front hip room, 5.9 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom and 4.3 inches more rear hip room than the Q70.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Quattroporte’s available rear seats recline. The Q70’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Quattroporte has a much larger trunk than the Q70 (18.7 vs. 14.9 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Quattroporte’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Q70 doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

The Quattroporte has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Q70 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge – which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Q70 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The power windows standard on both the Quattroporte and the Q70 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Quattroporte is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The Q70 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Quattroporte’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Q70’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Q70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Q70 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Quattroporte detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Q70 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Quattroporte’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Q70 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Standard smartphone integration for the Quattroporte allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations, searching the internet and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Q70 doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Q70 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
