For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Aston Martin Rapide doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.
The Quattroporte has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Rapide doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.
The Quattroporte offers optional Automated Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Rapide doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.
The Quattroporte S offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Rapide doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
The Maserati Quattroporte has Daytime Running Lights to help keep it more visible under all conditions. Canadian government studies show that driving with lights during the day reduces accidents by 11% by making vehicles more conspicuous. The Rapide doesn’t offer Daytime Running Lights.
The Quattroporte’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The Rapide doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.
The Quattroporte offers an optional Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Rapide only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.
The Quattroporte’s blind spot warning system uses digital cameras monitored by computer to alert the driver to moving objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. The Rapide doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.
To help make backing safer, the Quattroporte’s cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Rapide doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.
Both the Quattroporte and the Rapide have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and rearview cameras.
The Quattroporte comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Rapide’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.
There are over 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Quattroporte’s warranty.
The Quattroporte GTS’ standard 3.8 turbo V8 produces 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (524 vs. 465) than the Rapide’s 5.9 DOHC V12.
In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Quattroporte’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. (Start/Stop isn’t accounted in present EPA fuel mileage tests.) The Rapide doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.
The Quattroporte’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Rapide’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Rapide’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.
The Quattroporte has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Rapide; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.
The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Rapide doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 7.1 inches longer than on the Rapide (124.8 inches vs. 117.7 inches).
For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Quattroporte is 1.7 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the Rapide.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Quattroporte’s available rear seats recline. The Rapide’s rear seats don’t recline.
A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Quattroporte. The Rapide doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Quattroporte’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Rapide doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening liftgate.
A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Quattroporte to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Aston Martin doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Rapide.
The Quattroporte has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Rapide doesn’t offer a remote starting system.
The Quattroporte’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Rapide doesn’t offer an easy entry system.
The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge – which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Rapide does not have an oil pressure gauge.
Keyless Go standard on the Quattroporte allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip (optional Extended Keyless Go will also allow unlocking the passenger doors without taking your keys out). The Aston Martin Rapide doesn’t offer an advanced key system.
Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Rapide doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Rapide doesn’t offer headlight washers.
While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Quattroporte detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Rapide doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Quattroporte has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Rapide doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The Quattroporte’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Rapide’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
A power rear sunshade is optional in the Quattroporte to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Rapide doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.
The Quattroporte has standard automatic dimming rear and side view mirrors which automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Rapide offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
On extremely cold winter days, the Quattroporte’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Rapide doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
The Quattroporte’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Rapide doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.
To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Quattroporte offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. With standard voice command, the Quattroporte offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The Rapide doesn’t offer a voice control system.
The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Rapide doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
