Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the QX30 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The GLA doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The QX30 Sport handles at .88 G’s, while the GLA 250 4MATIC pulls only .84 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The QX30 Sport executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GLA 250 4MATIC (26.1 seconds @ .71 average G’s vs. 27 seconds @ .66 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the QX30 has a 3.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the AMG GLA 45 (8 vs. 4.8 inches), allowing the QX30 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The QX30’s minimum ground clearance is 2.7 inches higher than on the GLA 250 (8 vs. 5.3 inches).

As tested by Car and Driver while at idle, the interior of the QX30 Essential AWD is quieter than the GLA 250 4MATIC (41 vs. 42 dB).

The front step up height for the QX30 is 2 inches lower than the GLA (16.4” vs. 18.4”). The QX30’s rear step up height is 2.3 inches lower than the GLA’s (17.2” vs. 19.5”).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the QX30 easier. The QX30’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 28.1 inches, while the GLA’s liftover is 29.5 inches.

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Mercedes. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti first in service department satisfaction. With a 8% lower rating, Mercedes is ranked 6th.

The QX30 Luxe/Sport/Essential’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GLA doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the QX30 Sport/Essential to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The GLA doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the QX30 Sport/Essential detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The GLA doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the QX30 Sport/Essential has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The GLA doesn’t offer cornering lights.

When the QX30 Luxe/Sport/Essential is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The GLA’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
