The Transit Van’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Transit Van’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

The Transit Van offers optional SYNC®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Transit Van has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. For more complete vehicle control the Transit Van has SelectShift, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. SelectShift allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. In case you lock your keys in your vehicle, or don’t have them with you, you can let yourself in using the Transit Van’s available exterior PIN entry system. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer an exterior PIN entry system.

The Transit Van has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and fuel theft. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

The Transit Van’s optional wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield. The ProMaster Cargo Van’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Transit Van offers an optional automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer automatic headlights.

The Transit Van has standard power remote mirrors. The ProMaster Cargo Van only comes with remote mirrors at extra cost. Without them the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Transit Van offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The ProMaster Cargo Van doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
