Safety

The Allroad’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The UX Series doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Allroad has standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The UX Series doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Allroad. But it costs extra on the UX Series.

The Allroad Prestige has a standard Top View Camera System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The UX Series only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

The Allroad has a standard Audi Connect CARE, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The UX Series doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Allroad and the UX Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in all IIHS frontal, side, rear impact and roof-crush tests, and its standard front crash prevention system, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Allroad the rating of “Top Pick” for 2017, a rating granted to only 139 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The UX Series has not been tested, yet.

Warranty

The Allroad’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the UX Series’ (12 vs. 6 years).

There are over 26 percent more Audi dealers than there are Lexus dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Allroad’s warranty.

Reliability

The Audi Allroad’s engine uses a cast iron block for durability, while the UX Series’ engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

Engine

The Allroad’s 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. produces 79 more horsepower (248 vs. 169) and 122 lbs.-ft. more torque (273 vs. 151) than the UX 200’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4 cyl. The Allroad’s 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. produces 73 more horsepower (248 vs. 175) than the UX 250h’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4 cyl. hybrid.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Allroad has 4.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX Series Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (15.3 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Allroad has 2.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX Series’ standard fuel tank (15.3 vs. 12.4 gallons).

Transmission

The Allroad’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The UX Series doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Allroad’s brake rotors are larger than those on the UX Series:

The Allroad’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the UX Series are solid, not vented.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Allroad has larger tires than the UX Series (245/45R18 vs. 225/50R18).

The Allroad’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the UX Series’ standard 50 series tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Allroad has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The UX Series’ suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The Allroad has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The UX Series’ suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Allroad’s wheelbase is 7 inches longer than on the UX Series (110.9 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Allroad is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .7 inches wider in the rear than on the UX Series.

Passenger Space

The Allroad has 1.9 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front shoulder room, 1.1 inches more rear headroom, 2.6 inches more rear legroom and 1.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the UX Series.

Cargo Capacity

The Allroad has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the UX Series (24.2 vs. 21.7 cubic feet).

Servicing Ease

The engine in the Allroad is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the UX Series. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Ergonomics

The Allroad’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The UX Series’

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Allroad to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The UX Series doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

On extremely cold winter days, the Allroad Premium Plus/Prestige’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The UX Series doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
