To help make backing safer, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s cross-path warning system uses wide-angle radar in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The Macan doesn’t offer a cross-path warning system.

Both the Stelvio Quadrifoglio and the Macan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6 produces 257 more horsepower (505 vs. 248) and 170 lbs.-ft. more torque (443 vs. 273) than the Macan’s standard 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6 produces 157 more horsepower (505 vs. 348) and 91 lbs.-ft. more torque (443 vs. 352) than the Macan S’ standard 3.0 turbo V6.

Fuel Economy and Range

An engine control system that can shut down half of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s fuel efficiency. The Macan doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Macan.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Macan:

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Macan doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio has larger tires than the Macan (F:255/45R20 & R:285/40R20 vs. F:235/60R18 & R:255/55R18).

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s 255/45R20 front and 285/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Macan’s standard 60 series front and 55 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Stelvio Quadrifoglio has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Macan.

The design of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio amounts to more than styling. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .34 Cd. That is lower than the Macan (.36). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Stelvio Quadrifoglio get better fuel mileage.

Cargo Capacity

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan with its rear seat up (18.5 vs. 17.6 cubic feet). The Stelvio Quadrifoglio has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan with its rear seat folded (56.5 vs. 52.9 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Macan doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Macan.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Macan doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Macan doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Macan doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
