Both the Giulia Quadrifoglio and the AMG GT 4-Door have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available lane departure warning systems.

For its top level performance in all IIHS frontal, side, rear impact and roof-crush tests, with its optional front crash prevention system, and its headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Giulia Quadrifoglio the rating of “Top Pick” for 2018, a rating granted to only 104 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The AMG GT 4-Door has not been tested, yet.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6 produces 76 more horsepower (505 vs. 429) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (443 vs. 384) than the AMG GT 53’s standard 3.0 turbo 6 cyl. hybrid.

Tires and Wheels

The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 245/35R19 front and 285/30R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG GT 4-Door’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s tires are lower profile than the AMG GT 63 S’ 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the AMG GT 4-Door’s (37.5 feet vs. 41.3 feet).

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 to 1000 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio is 1 foot, 4.6 inches shorter than the AMG GT 4-Door, making the Giulia Quadrifoglio easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Giulia Quadrifoglio a Mid-size car, while the AMG GT 4-Door is rated a Compact.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio has standard seating for 5 passengers; the AMG GT 4-Door can only carry 4.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Giulia Quadrifoglio has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The AMG GT 4-Door doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Giulia Quadrifoglio was chosen as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” in 2018. The AMG GT 4-Door has never been a Car and Driver “Top Ten” pick.

Motor Trend selected the Giulia Quadrifoglio as their 2018 Car of the Year. The AMG GT 4-Door has never been chosen.
